The New York Mets made an interesting decision Monday afternoon.

New York reportedly is promoting No. 3 prospect Jett Williams to the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies after a red-hot stretch with the High-A Brooklyn Cyclones, according to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo.

"The Mets have promoted prospect Jett Williams, one of last year's first-round draft picks, to Double-A Binghamton," DiComo said.

Williams was drafted in the first round of the 2022 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft by New York and has quickly shot up the organization's farm system. The 19-year-old plays both shortstop and center field and certainly is an intriguing prospect. Williams already is the Mets' third-ranked prospect and was exceptional after being promoted to Brooklyn. The 19-year-old appeared in 36 games with the Cyclones and slashed .299/.451/.567 to go along with seven home runs, 18 RBIs, and 12 stolen bases.

New York's farm system has taken a major step forward this season and Williams' progression certainly is a big reason why. The 19-year-old likely is at least one or two years away from making his big league debut but will have the opportunity to take another step forward the rest of the season with the Double-A Rumble Ponies.

The Mets have had a down year, to say the least, but that doesn't mean that New York fans shouldn't be excited. The Mets have a bright future and soon enough Williams will find his way to Citi Field if he continues down the path he currently is on.
